And before you know it, it has become the latest fad. It is a rage and people all over the country will be swearing by it. Nope, there is no way out, if you are an intelligent human being, even mildly concerned about what is happening in the world around you, then whoa, here come the snowballs- Internet spam, TV ads, infomercials, news programs, magazines, radio segments, billboards, junk mail, bestsellers, and airplane banners bombard, no stones left unturned.

But then nothing is permanent in this world except change, and when the latest diet has had enough takers, (read that as gullible if you may) and the discoverers (or inventors) of the diet have made enough money, then ding-dong, it is ring out the old, bring in the new. There is always an improvement; there is always some new research that has been done, and then the catch line is something new, something refreshingly different. Oh, you think that the research we mentioned was about how to actually lose weight, wrong you are, all the research that goes on as far as these ‘diet makers’ go, is how to market the latest diet and how to convince the consumer that this thing is better than the last. So there you have it, it’s a whole new story this time and the end results are even more promising than the last. A typical story of old wine in the new bottle, huh?

Well, that’s precisely what these fad diets are all about. And then when you think that you have tried it all, when you are on the brink of despair, here comes the panacea, the only thing that is guaranteed to reduce those few pounds or you get your money back, and since it is a money back offer, you reason that you have nothing else to lose and there you are going on the same merry-go-round-again.

Eat Less Calories - Although you need to increase meal frequency to lose weight naturally, you must be mindful of your caloric consumption. Calories consumed must not exceed calories expanded for your daily energy. So keep your meals small and cut down on dietary fats as each gram of fat contains 9 calories whereas each gram of protein and carbohydrate contains only 4 calories.

Oh….so you think this eating habit is difficult to implement or that you will miss your sugary foodstuffs and soft drinks? Not to worry. You may experience some withdrawal symptoms at first but after a week or two, you will be weaned off your sugar and simple carbohydrate cravings. That is what you are going to do anyway; you are trying to get rid of fat permanently instead of just ‘losing’ it only to gain it back later.

Regular Exercise

This is the key to weight loss success: The key to losing weight- oops, I mean, getting rid of fat successfully- is to exercise regularly. If you want to burn fat fast, there is no better alternative to exercise. If you have never exercised before in your life it is only natural that you will be afraid.

In such a case, you can start by walking everyday. Then do some light aerobic exercises such as jogging, bicycling, swimming, etc. As you become accustomed to your activity level, you can take it further by doing cardio and resistance training. Monitor Beverages

Don’t ignore the quality of the night’s rest, since it tells much about your general physical and emotional condition as it is not uncommon for overweight people to wake up in the middle of the night and tuck in. Many overweight people also suffer from stress which physical activity is known to eliminate and by eating healthily, calories will be lost but all this will go to waste if you are getting up in the night to eat.

5 Strategies For Successful Teen Weight Loss

Adolescent obesity has skyrocketed in recent years. During the 1980s, adolescent obesity rates hung at around 5%, but today they are close to 15%, according to the National Center of Health Statistics. This 10% increase can be linked to a number of developments in the past two decades, such as more television and less healthy foods, but something can be done about this as well. For many teenagers, physical appearance is a vital attribute. More importantly, however, obesity during the teenage years can lead to obesity as an adult, and continuing health problems as a result of being overweight. 2.) Turn Off the TV - Inactivity is one of the primary causes of obesity, and the television is one of the primary causes of inactivity. Eliminating television is likely too severe a measure, but limiting its use during the day could encourage other activities that are more healthy. Help come up with fun physical activities, such as sports like fishing, spending time in the outdoors, or just going for a walk.

3.) Forget About Sugary Soft Drinks - All those name-brand sodas, in addition to being highly popularized, are full of chemicals and sugar. Put simply, they aren’t good for you. The medical journal Pediatrics recently published a study revealing that removing over-sugared soft drinks can assist in teen weight loss by cutting beverage calories by up to 80%. Try real fruit juices instead.

4.) Watch the Food - Not all food is created equal. Eating fast food and easily accessible, over-processed snack food is the surest way to an unhealthy, and overweight, lifestyle. Stop stopping at fast food joints and think about eating something more wholesome, like a balanced meal at a restaurant or something cooked at home. For that matter, ensure a daily intake of fruits and vegetables - they provide many necessary vitamins and nutrients that help burn excess calories, and maintain high energy throughout the day.

5.) Exercise Regularly - Exercise is key. If a teenager never gets to the gym or goes outside, then the hope in losing weight immediately begins to pale.
